Ever since I was young, I was always told I couldn't do a lot of things. All I heard was "You need to stop having fun or else you'll end up in the hospital" and i hated hearing that. My doctors office told me about camp and i have been going ever since. Camp has helped me to make lifelong friends. The counselors are very nice and they are not like the camp counselors you see on tv, some of them have sickle cell and they really care about you. At camp i never felt alone and that is where i found out that I can do a lot more than they said.

The transition program at camp has taught me so much about living with sickle cell as a young adult. I implemented a lot of the things I learned at camp without needing parental advisory such as scheduling my own appointments, getting and controlling my medication, and much more. Living with sickle cell hasn't been a thing but learning the things I did at camp has helped me tremendously.

I want to thank the sickle cell foundation of Georgia for putting this camp together for the kids with Sickle Cell, it means the world to us because we and with people that understand the pain of Sickle Cell
Dear Sickle Cell Foundation, thank you for providing me with the opportunity to enjoy all these events. It’s good to know there’s a place for kinds like me, and to meet people with the same disease.
I just wanted to say thank you. You all gave me an opportunity to meet people just like me and also let me enjoy my summer.

Dear Camp Counselors, it is really amazing hanging out with y’all. The kindness and the supportiveness is truly wonderful. This has been a wonderful time so far and continues to be. But, the person that has stuck out to me the most is… everyone. Yall are so kind, very pretty, and are trendy. Yall keep everything positive, friendly, and very funny! I love everyone’s personalities, good vibes, and the talks we have!
My son has really been enjoying camp. At first he was a bit hesitant to come to camp, but after his first year, he is hooked. I am so grateful because this is his first time being around other children with sickle cell disease. For the longest, he thought he was all alone.
Dear Counselors, thank you for making camp good and making sure I’m okay. Yall good people. Thank you for being cool dudes
